ARCHETYPE: THE HERO
Day 35/135
Athletic Accomplishments
At the University of Michigan, Amanda Chidester was an All-American, and two-time winner of Big Ten Player of the Year honors (2010 & 2011). She average an impressive .355 at the plate over her entire college career.
In 2012, Chidester got her call-up to Team USA, where she has become a major contributor playing behind the plate as catcher or third base. But it’s her offense that really turns heads.
Chidester is a consistent power hitter, racking up RBIs, home runs, and a batting average that makes her a nightmare for opposing pitchers.
In the 2016 WBSC Women's World Championship, she led the team with 7 home runs, 18 RBI, and 11 runs scored for a .591 (13-for-22) batting average and a 1.727 slugging percentage. In the 2017 Pan American Championship, she hit .515 (17-33) with 17 RBI, 11 runs scored, and two home runs. You can’t make that stuff up, but you CAN confirm it on her Wikipedia page.
Chidester has played in the National Pro Fastpitch league, where she was an All-Star and then 2019’s Player of the Year. She has also won two World Cup of Softball gold medals (2012, 2015) and four silver medals (2013, 2014, 2016, 2017).
But she’s still chasing down the biggest dream: winning Olympic gold.
